Jackie- recent version and notes from Royce

Hi everyone, here is my shot as is currently. I've worked on Victor's notes to tone it down because it goes along with some of Royce's notes. To paraphrase Royce's notes; -push the idea in shot 1 more. Have her more in her own world while swinging around. Have her not look at him at first while he's talking. Have her look at him first when she starts talking. -"I'm a princess"- nice. -stay at 116 pose, then shift weight over right before "Prince." -dragon is too chipper, have him more thug-y and direct. Sell thug-y attitude more. Less smile and more slouch. -cameras looking good. shot 3: twist away/ lean towards him, shift weight towards him.

  1. Hey, Jackie! Nice job hitting all the notes. She is looking better and the timing of her is good. Looks like you are still fleshing out some of the acting choices in Shot 1 so I won't comment too much on that. The timing all looks good though...nice and snappy and playful. Really playing well into her character.

I think her body movement is still a little much. That is a pretty big sway. I think the big movement and force is gonna come from more of the hips and arms, but not so much the upper torso...which seems to be moving the most. That swinging is going to be something you'll want to dig into and vary up the timing a little. Record yourself doing it again and watch your upper body and how much it moves. If the bucket is full of water, once she starts gesturing with it she may not raise it as high up as you have here in the shot due to its weight and possibility for spillage.

For the dragon, may want to try the idea of starting him off not looking at her. It could make it more interesting with him focused on fishing, saying the line and then maybe glances behind towards her once she starts talking after she says 'Princess'...as if he is already saying in his head 'oh and he doesn't do it for ya, huh?', before he actually says it. I just think you can play with him more and this will help him react to what she is saying and keep the shot interesting.

I still think the dragon looks too dainty/feminine. It's the look over his shoulder towards the girl where it is distracting me. May also be the head tilt, lowered shoulders and one leg up. Particularly from f30 onward is where he looks a little too girly. Perhaps a whole new pose on him may help mesh the idea of him being a big tough dragon with tattoos...and match his gruffly voice.

You may also even be able to hold the pole with one hand and have the other hand some where else. Not sure but play with the pose and maybe sketch out a few ideas. If you type in 'sitting on dock' into Google images, you'll find some fun poses there to inspire you.

Good luck and keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing the shot progress over these next few weeks :)
